Word for the Year

Do you pick out a word for the year instead of making New Year’s Resolutions? Do you do both? The concept of having a word for the year is to help bring intent, focus, and clarity to what we desire to bring into our lives.

Though this is a new concept to me as I just learned about it, I’ve realized I have been doing something similar for several years. Instead of picking out a word for the year, I like to pick out a quote for the year. For instance, one year my quote was, “Not my monkeys, not my circus,” when I needed a reminder that it was okay for me to set boundaries for myself. Another one for another year was, “Learn something new every day.” I still use the last quote because you’re never too old to learn something new. I like using these quotes as a reminder of what I’m working on within myself to help me stay on track.

This year I picked two words for 2023. Self-love and productivity. My quote of the year is a little bit different than prior ones because the quotes I’ve made previously were meant for me to say to myself. The quote I’ve picked this year is meant for me to say to others and only when I mean it. “I love your soul.” It is the perfect quote for me. My spirituality requires me to work within myself to the very core of my soul and I tend to connect with others at the same level, within their soul. In essence to me, saying “I love your soul,” is the same as saying, “I love you.”

If you pick out a word for the year instead of making a New Year’s Resolution, want to share your thoughts about picking a quote for the year, or picked a quote for the year yourself and would like to share, please do so in the comments I would love to read them!

Happy New Year!

How productive would we be through the year if we woke up each day in the same mindset that we wake up in on the first day of each year? I’d like to think that we would be pretty productive throughout the year. My main goal for this year is to wake up each day with the same mindset that I woke up with this morning: “A new day with new goals to reach!”

I have other goals for this upcoming year that will keep me busy and help me grow in many areas of my life. Blogging more, creating more, and being more productive with my time are just a few of them. Join me as I take this new adventure in 2023 with all the ups and downs that come along with it.

My plan to blog more is to blog at least twice a week. There may be weeks that I will blog more, but taking the time to blog at least twice each week is a reasonable, reachable goal for me and my time. What is one thing you plan to do this upcoming year? Leave a comment below and share!
